IUPUI's academic calendar stumbled to a close this past May, and I graduated with my Master's Degree in Museum Studies. The event was bittersweet, and ultimately I was just grateful to be done. For the first few weeks of having free time, I did a lot of sleeping, cleaning, and picking up extra hours at my serving job.
I got bored with this routine rather quickly, however, and have been busy ever since. Now, in mid-July, it's time to take stock of what I've been up to for the past month and a half.
I've been brought on to the Storage Space Art Gallery team, and I'm excited to be there. Installing Morgan Gray's show, The Best of Us, was a lot of fun. I'm looking forward to helping out with their programming, and hopefully I'll get to start organizing previous shows into an archive-like shape. Danielle Joy Graves and Nick Witten of Sugar Space are running the space for Brent Lehker this year, and collaborating with them should be an educational and joyful experience.
My personal project of the moment is Industry Baby, a gallery-market-concert amalgamation that highlights artists in the service industry. Set for the weekend following BUTTER, Industry Baby will be held at Milktooth on September 9.
